What a hoot!

I'm boarding my flight home from Indianapolis yesterday where I discovery an empty seat between my row mate (not sure what to call the other guy in the other seat) and myself. All flights in the world seem to be stuffed with people. I'm not sure if the airlines are cutting flights or more people have decided to fly this year than ever before but having an empty seat in a row is quite incredible.

The doors are about to close when someone jumps on the plane...so much for my extra room in row 21. Fortunately, it's a slight woman, my guess in her early forties which is far better than a 6'4" greek wrestler on an all meat patty, special sauce diet.

As we take off we start the normal seat mate conversation. "Hi, are you headed home?' She was. Sometimes the quiet people like to end that conversation at this time. She was quiet but inquisitive. I was surprised by her question that ask, "So, what do you do?" Which I followed up with my normal answer, "I play golf for a living in Europe on a European Senior Tour."

She pulls a kleenex from her purse and begins to dab her eye in jest as she replied, "Oh, wait, I'm so sorry. You must hate your life?" Mentioning how blessed I am created a follow up dab on her right eye and her responding, "Oh, Please, let me tell the others on the plane how hard your life is. I'm sure they will want to know how difficult it must be."

I call her Miss B. She was a hoot. The remainder of the flight went pretty much the same way. At one point she asked me what I had to do next and I mentioned how I needed to start working hard on my game. "Really?" Her eyes said it all. It was in humor that she replied, and it was a great look as if to say, REALLY, you are using the word 'hard' and 'game' in the same sentence.

Thanks Miss B for reminding me what a great life I have.

Hit 'em hard and look up!

Byron,
I can actually picture this. I use to travel every week on business. You would have been a welcome seat mate to my tedious Sales Presentation to City County Government... I can totally relate to her; I LOVE it. You are too funny. Enjoy the ride.
