I have fond memories of my early years in golf. Neighbors teaching me how to take a 'ribbing,' old dudes getting mad because I could out drive them, and evenings walking the course with my mom and dad playing match play for a quarter. I loved their money.
My freshman and sophomore years of high school a good friend and I battled for #1 on the golf team. Then I was offered the opportunity to attend a private school.....get this....a military school. Obvious I had no idea what that meant. But they had their own golf course and it was right out my back door. How could I argue at getting up at 6am every morning and marching to breakfast in subzero weather as a 16 year old when I could play golf all the time. RIGHT!!!!!
It was during this time that I received scholarship offers to several colleges and universities. It was at this time that I also decided that I would prefer to travel playing piano and went off to college studying music and turning down the scholarships.
Over the following years Crystal and I enjoyed traveling. Playing piano was a gateway to visit many countries and meet some amazing people. We enjoy being around our friends, a good meal and a great glass of wine.
I have discovered how much I enjoy the game of golf and along the way I've found how writing, even these blogs, has been a part of the dream. Thanks for keeping tabs on my travels, my game and I pray you enjoy a few of these blogs along the way.
