It Was A Blustery Day

Oscar and John Fighting the Wind
This past week has had some interesting winds. Golfers generally have to play in all kinds of weather. It's not always the postcard perfect experience on the course and if we don't learn to play in adverse weather, well, let's just say learning is always a good thing. But sometimes the winds or rain become to much that don't allow us to play. Especially when the wind is pushing the ball around the golf course.

But Oscar, John and I had a great game last week during some serious winds. We each took one club and played 9 holes. We had to be extremely creative with each shot. Five iron was my choice of club. Oscar took a four iron and john a hybrid.

When I was about 17ish, the head pro at our course in Mexico, Missouri  (See the club I grew up on) took my clubs from me one week.  Each day he would hand me a different club and tell me which tees to play from. I was getting bored and I needed some change. It was amazing how differently I looked at the same golf course.  I had to think differently and hit shots I had never hit before. I guess changing up our routine is a good thing from time to time.

I head to Haggin Oaks this week to pick up my 'other' driver which Dan has prepped for me, and hopefully get some more work done on a couple other clubs. In the mean time, be watching for a new page from Scotty Thompson. You can find it right here.

Hit'em hard and look up,
Byron
