Austin has one of the largest, if not THE largest universities on the planet. Add in the state capital, a strong and growing tech industry it's causing the city to grow by 50,000 people a year. I hear a number of them are flocking here from California. Well, flocking might be exaggerating but hey, I'm in Texas, exaggeration is legal.
I'm in Austin for the Pre-Qualifier for the Triton Financial Classic (a new sponsor this year as it was the FedX/Kinko's Classic). The field is approximately 50 players mostly from the Texas area.
For those of you who know Vicki our administrator and general day to day salvation (as I am administratively challenged) came to Vacaville from Austin. Before I came she called close friends and twisted their arms to allow me to stay at their lovely home. Ralph and Laura are great folks and I'm sure Vicki is paying them to have me stay there. It's nice to be out of a hotel this week and around sane, lovely, folks that are so willing to give up some of their personal space for me.
After the tournament tomorrow I will catch a flight home for the weekend. It's been a long run with having been in Europe for a month and then the past two weeks in Iowa and Texas.

PS. Be looking for the reemergence of the EAT-A-CD tour golf bag out there. Eat-A-Cd is open now and you can purchase some of my music through this website.

Recently we had friends from Germany visiting us. I stole them away for a morning so I could practice a bit. They had never been to a golf course or watch much golf on TV and never live. While I was practicing Harald took this short video clip of me powering up a driver.
It's my swing and I'm sticking with it.

Byron -- good move. I always do that too when people are watching ... I hit, then look wayyyyy down the middle of the fairway, regardless of where the ball actually went. -- Matt Judge
Exactly. You've got to look good...
