Isn't new years a really cool time. We get to look ahead, dream bigger than we did last year and consider what the year will hold for us. Truly an amazing expectation inside of each of us.
What's up for this year? I'll start by looking back at November of 2009. Our last event was a Pepsi Tour tournament. I had a good placing there and was proud of how I ended the season. I accomplished my goal of finding more about my personal approach to tournament play allowing me to begin lowering my scores. More of this in 2010!
Also in November we made a decision that I need to be playing as many tournaments as possible. 2009 I played thirteen events from Champion Tour qualifiers, Sunbelt Senior Tour to a few Pepsi Tour tournaments. Thirteen was good but not enough. Not if I want to gain the needed experience in this third year of tournaments.
Sam, Crystal and I made a plan...well, I listened as they told me some very wise stuff. First, as I mentioned I need a lot more experience in tournament play. Second, I can get that right here in California or at least in the Western portion of the USA. Third and most strategic is that my main goal for 2010 is to prepare, get my scores down and look to playing the PGA Champions Tour Qualifying School in November.
Q-School, as it's called, is a two stage process towards receiving your players card. I've never had this opportunity and until this year would not have considered it with my scores not being as I desired, and it costing more than a small pony to enter. As I watched my scores lowering in the second half of 2009 we realized that if I could get more events under my golfing belt (by the way those look much nicer these days) I could have this goal of playing Q-School.
That's our goal and to accomplish this desire I will be playing at least 24 tournaments of varying levels of play (see schedule) all based in the Western portion of the USA. Utah, Idaho, Washington, Vancouver and California.
Charging towards Q-School is my goal for 2010. If you have a chance please come out and follow us around as Sam and I head out starting January 10 with the Pepsi Tour in San Leandro, CA.
Happy New Year!
Byron
