A Very Cool Job

Over the last two days Matt and I have scaled a couple of mountains. The two courses we have practiced on were reported to be ancient training grounds for Himilayan trail guides. But they've been good days. We've been planning our strategy for the course and working together on our caddy/player routine. Then we return to the hotel and crash for a couple hours before hunger sets in.

Enter stage right, Roger and Frances from England who have been a great joy and lovers of the game of golf (PJ, they remind me of you and Bob).

They are down on a working holiday. I thought I had it good. Roger writes for the RAF golf magazine. (Royal Air Force). His job is to travel about to different amazing locations, cultures, resorts, golf courses, restaurants and then review them. He is retired Air Force so he's definitely earned this opportunity, but it sounds pretty sweet.

Over breakfast on our first day we meet this wonderful couple and opened some conversation with the basics but, it seemed to be providence that we continued to connect which lead to last night dining at one of their favorite local digs. I need to figure how to follow these guys around. They found some great places. Beside the fact that they are wonderful people and new friends.

Do you remember my blog about playing in England this fall? Roger and Frances are from Gloucestershire (the county of) where the tournament was held. It's a place to return to and now I may have some new golfing partners when I return to Forrest Hills Golf Club.

Tomorrow (Thursday) at 9:40 the first day of tournament play begins. I have limited technology at the moment so if you want to follow my scoring you can go to European Senior Tour and follow the links to Q-School.

Hit'em hard and look up!
Byron

PS. I will do a follow up on some of Rogers photos and articles once I'm home.
