Fully Entrenched

The season is in full swing. We have passed through the first major of the year with flying pink colors and now, for us lessor mortals, it's time to start our qualifying rounds for the US and US Senior Opens. I personally enjoy this competition because it includes both professional and amateur players. Take today for instance...

I had the privilege  of practicing for the US Open qualifier with a young man and his father. Cameron is a sophomore in high school, crushes the ball, has an amazing swing, has a verbal agreement with Texas A&M. He reminds me of myself at that age. I hit a long ball, had offers I was working through and had a great dad who pretty much kept me honest and less cocky.

Here we are working toward the same goal, years apart knowing that one of us, or both of us, could end up playing in the US Open. That's cool! Sehr Kool! I believe there are devine appointments in life, Cameron is one of these. We found out we have another practice on Sunday together.

The fortunate thing is this course is a placement course. Long drives help on a few holes but it's more about where you place the ball in the fairway. Sounds like there should be a lesson in there somewhere. I'm just so incredibly glad to be there playing golf!

If you are in the NorCal area and enjoy seeing some good golf come on out next Monday to Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills, CA. My tee time is 9:36am. Wear some walking shoes and take a nice walk. You can find the map in the right hand column.

Until then, hit'em hard and look up.
Byron
